After her competitive time came to an end, Gabriella started to shift her dance career towards teaching and began directing the competitive team Distinction Company in 2023 at Dance Unlimited in Buda, Texas. Her work has been shown at community performances, annual recitals, and regional as well as national dance competitions.
She is currently choreographing her competitive pieces and is happily continuing to work with the Award-winning Distinction Company, in Buda. Gabriella plans to be certified in many more styles, techniques, and methods through the CLI (create, learn, inspire) Studios dance program and professional training in regional and local master classes.
Today in her current endeavors, Gabriella is inspired by the strength and passion of the human body. The body-mind connection there is in dance is what draws her attention when it comes to her work. She values meaningful and constructive techniques and experiences to help pave the way for her dancers to discover the art of organic and connective movement.
Dance is not just an art or sport, but rather a respected discipline and connection of the body and mind. I believe that the importance of respect and understanding goes far beyond the walls of training and stands for much more. To be an instructor is to forever be a student.
My biggest goal in the classroom is to create a safe and supportive environment for my students. For me, safety is one of the most important aspects of learning. Building a secure space for my students will allow them to take risks and become confident in their abilities. The methods I use are meant to enforce a culture of trust and encouragement as well as challenge certain materials and practices. My techniques involve the significance of alignment, strength, and rhythmic timing. With these strategies, it may become difficult to achieve success with all performers, so I strive to improve my knowledge with my dancers through self-awareness and collaboration such as team building and being as accessible as possible.
In all aspects, I hope to be an approachable and reliable leader for all students. As a role model, it is my responsibility to uphold high-quality standards and education to provide the best instruction and guidance that I can. To be a trusted source of guidance and education is a privilege that I am grateful to have. Professionalism and dedication will continue to be my primary focus and lead me in my future studies.
I am a choreographer, instructor, leader, and mentor. These titles are what curate the thoughts and beliefs behind my artistic journey. The body and mind are separate entities that we know coexist and flow throughout our movements and storytelling skills. In my past endeavors, I gravitated towards more surface-level themes. Currently, I am stepping outside of my comfort zone and creating pieces that illustrate my new styles and inspirations. I value deep connections, discipline, and artistry. Research and analysis of topics is a detail that is necessary to understand the perspectives and effects of the art that is being presented.
I attempt to deliver meaningful and effective visuals and motifs while also maintaining the quality of technique and presentation. I believe that the most important part of being an artist is to explore, learn, and improve continuously to achieve your dreams and potential.
My aspirations have set my motivation to take every opportunity I can to build a stronger relationship and community within my art career. Each project that I am given is another step into unlocking who and what I will design and create in and for the future.
